SourceVoice

An English and Mandarin voice interface for exploring injection molding costs, supplier questions, and negotiation prompts.

Discussing Manufacturing Costs

I built SourceVoice in four hours to explore conversations about injection molding costs and supplier questions across English and Mandarin. A user describes a component or purchasing question by voice or text, then reviews generated cost categories and negotiation prompts.

Before sending a voice message, the user can correct technical terms, quantities, and prices in the transcript. The demonstration simulates an English speaking customer negotiating with an AI manufacturer responding in Mandarin; it shows a bilingual conversation, not a supplier quotation or completed negotiation.

Turning Bilingual Input Into Procurement Guidance

Reviewing the Transcript Before Sending

Speech recognition runs in the browser and produces editable text. The user can correct a material name, quantity, or price before the client sends that text with recent conversation context. Text entry follows the same route without requiring speech capture. The voice flow makes transcript review an explicit step before the provider request.

Input and Provider Roles

ComponentResponsibility
BrowserSpeech recognition, transcript review, and text fallback.
Next.js handlersCall providers with conversation context and keep credentials on the server.
Claude and GeminiGenerate bilingual guidance; Gemini also supplies visual references.
ElevenLabsProvides optional speech playback of responses.

Separating Guidance From Speech Playback

Next.js route handlers translate the conversation into provider requests while keeping credentials on the server. Claude and Gemini supply bilingual guidance and structured cost considerations. Speech playback through ElevenLabs and visual references through Gemini are separate requests, so the conversation's text can be reviewed independently of those presentation options.
