Applications of OpenClaw

I introduced Network School participants to two everyday uses for an AI assistant: making video content and keeping up with current news.

Making Content and Following the News

For content creation, I showed how an assistant can coordinate the separate jobs involved in a video: generate clips, join them, and work with audio and subtitles. The application is about moving through the production steps, not just writing a prompt for someone to paste into another tool.

The second example was a regular news summarizer. It combines instructions about how the assistant should respond with fresh information from the web and a recurring check. Together, the two examples show the difference between work requested once and work an assistant returns to over time.

Coordinating Media Tasks and News Updates

Skills for a Video Production Sequence

A ClawHub skill introduced video generation, stitching, audio, and subtitles as separate operations. Generation provides the clips; stitching combines them, while audio and subtitles address other parts of the finished piece. The assistant coordinates those operations so a content request can move beyond suggested wording into production work.

Recurring Retrieval for Current News

The news application used custom identity and soul settings to shape the response, a heartbeat for recurring instructions, and web tool calls to obtain current source material. Each component has a different role: the heartbeat brings the task back, retrieval supplies fresh information, and the instructions guide how it is summarized. The model's existing knowledge alone is not the news source.
