Making Financial Reporting More Certain with OpenClaw

I showed finance teams how an AI assistant can help find missing support and unmatched balances before the month end close, using sample closing files.

Month End Review

At Preface, I demonstrated checks that help a reviewer see what still needs attention: expenses without enough supporting evidence, balances that do not match between group companies, and cross border service invoices needing tax review. The assistant brings those exceptions together with their supporting records rather than leaving the team to piece them together across closing files.

The talk also covers preparing draft explanations of currency movements and organizing the review by status and potential impact. The finance team reviews the exception list, investigates differences, and approves journals or filing submissions.

Preparing Exceptions for the Month End Close

Accrual Evidence and Intercompany Matching

The month end checks used sample closing files to check accrual support and match intercompany recharges against counterparty schedules. Missing evidence and unmatched balances became an exception list for investigation, retaining status, supporting records, and potential risk impact.

Draft Commentary and Tax Review

FX commentary was prepared as a draft explanation for review, while cross border service invoices were flagged for withholding tax consideration.

Confining Access to Closing Work

I applied the May OpenClaw and agentic AI governance advisories by limiting access to closing files, policies, and exceptions. The deployment approach presented used isolated Lightsail without Internet access, with compute, inference, and the gateway inside the VPC.
